P100P #028 - CHANEL UV Essential Sunscreen

I have really enjoyed using the CHANEL UV Essential Sunscreen.  It offers SPF50, and does not cause irritation or breakouts on my skin like ya generic sunscreen does.

I am parting with it as part of Project 100 Pan as I have owned it longer than 18 months, and I have been told that the active ingredients in sunscreen lose their effectiveness after a year.  It is now starting to separate, so it's time to go.

Of course price wise it was a bit extreme to turn to Chanel for sunscreen.  At the time I was desperate for something that worked without destroying my skin, and I was willing to pay upward of $50 for something would protect my freckles (that was my freckles - plural, not my 'freckle'!)

I have replaced this sunscreen with one from Murad which also works very nicely.  I would consider buying a similar product from Chanel again, if I could justify that I would use it up over a summer.

P100P #024 - Chanel Mat lumiere - sample

I know, I know, it's only a sample, but this sample has been haunting me from my bedside table for months.

It's a shade too dark for me, but I have been keen to try it anyway so I could see the texture.  Sadly it has done nothing but gather dust.  One of my colleagues is shade 20 Clair in Pro Lumiere, and I'm sure she'll get a kick out of this sample when I fling it at her on Monday morning!

CHANEL - Precision Lotion Confort Silky Soothing Toner

Chanel says...

Contains the de-pollution power of tulip tree extract
Hydrating properties of arum lily extract
Comfortably soothes & tones skin
Offers deep moisturising effects
Leaves skin fresh & supple

Cost

Currently on Strawberrynet for about AUD $49

Review

I have had my bottle of this softening toner for around 8 months. I am about halfway through the bottle. The reason for my slow progress with this product is my continuing debate on whether toner is a necessary step in our beauty routines.

The lovely staff at my local Chanel counter enthusiastically reassured me that toning was essential and this toner would suit me. It smells lovely and leaves my face feeling refreshed, however more often than not I breeze right past it and straight onto moisturiser!

I don't believe I will repurchase this product. While it is a high quality product, I would be more likely to a search for a toner which is known to be a hero product in it's skincare line, such as SKII Treatment Essence or Shiseido Softening Lotion.

Do you tone?

CHANEL - Hydramax Active Moisture Gel Cream

Hydramax Active Moisture Gel Cream is a light silky smooth sorbet gel cream which immediately melts into skin.  This a high performance cream ideal for summer.

Until recently, I was not aware that it contained hyaluronic acid to help combat fine dry lines.  I had certainly never noticed the improvement of any fine lines, although I am lucky not to have this as a major concern...yet!

I find this moisturiser leaves my skin soft and supple, but not tacky.  It is the perfect base for foundation, and doesn't facilitate any midday slide.

Chanel says this moisturiser has the a subtle scent of white peaches, citrus fruits, jasmine, peony & cyclamen flowers, however I cannot detect any of these scents individually.  The fragrance is very subtle and not overwhelming at all.

Just a word of warning... If you happen to drop this jar on the floor while the lid is off, it's square shape will encourage it to bounce with some velocity and empty the entire contents onto your carpet!  I speak from experience.  Urgh!

You can purchase a 50ml size of this cream at department stores like Myer and David Jones.  Of course check out the usual discount haunts such as eBay and StrawberryNet.  I am on my third jar, and paid around AU$75.00.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Nail Polish - Chanel Paradoxal #509

Here is the polish I am wearing today, snapped on a cloudy overcast day.  Just one coat will do with this formulation, however for a more professional look two coats and a top coat will ensure this look lasts all week.

I was just watching a YouTube video by Ginabinawina99 who had found a dupe for this polish from the Revlon range.  For beauty on a budget check out Revlon Perplex. I am not sure if it is available in Australia, but if you find it let me know in the comments below!

Until next time...

CHANEL foundation - Colour variations

Check out the difference between the ranges.  Both the Pro Lumiere and the Vitalumiere shown here are in the lightest colour 10.

Keep this in mind when you are buying your cosmetics online.
